Christmas Lane

I paid a visit to Jim Poulas' Christmas display in Ocean Acres. It is beyond word. There is every kind of Christmas display you can imagine. Yet it is taseful in its excess. This is the display that was chosen as the nation's best by the Today Show in 2005. It juat keeps getting bigger and better. You need to go see it for yourself and make sure you take some children, preferably young children, with you. When you see their eyes you will know why the Poulas family does it.
See this post for directions.

TIn Pan South

This past March, Carole and I spent 7 days in Nashville Tn. with our friend John Harper for the Tin Pan South song writers festival. It was a remarkable event and I took a ton of photos. I have finally culled the best 216 and posted them to my photo web site. You can browse all at once or look at them by show. Included artists include big names like Kenny Loggins, Richard Marx, Carlene Carter and Suzy Boggus (check out her new CD). There were a host of other lesser know song writers who have been responsible for an awful lot of good music. Gary Burg (Sat. late) wrote many of the country hits you hear on the radio, Gretchen Peters is a critically acclaimed singer song writer whose work has been covered by major stars. the list goes on and on.
Probably the moxt amazing night was the early show on Friday at the legendary Bluebird Cafe. It featured Mike Reid, who penned "I can't make you love me" for Bonnie Raitt among others. Also sitting in was Stephen Schwartz, lycist of Wicked and Godspell as well as a host of movie and TV songs. We sat within arms reach of thses masters as they played. The photo will explain how close we were.

OBX Half Marathon

I completed the OBX Half Marathon this fall. My first one. It was fun and I enjoyed both the training and the event. Here are a few shots from the day

Retirement Party

I haven't been posting here much lately but I have been taking pictures. Here are some photos from my recent retirement party. 160 of our closest friends and coworker assembled at Penguin Isle. The Wilder Brothers provided the entertainment. As you can see a good time was had by all
